Rob Price

Lead Pastor

Pastor Rob is a transplanted Oklahoma native who - since January 1st, 2000 - has been proud to call Texas "home". Katie - his bride and ministry partner for the past 29 years - is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a thriving practice in the Denton area.Rob and Katie have three children and a daughter-in-law: Matt, a Mechanical Engineer for the SpaceX Corporation; Anna, a Graphic Arts Designer and recent graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton TX, and Eliza, a Chemical Engineering major at Texas A&M in College Station, TX.  Katie, their daughter-in-law, is also a Mechanical Engineer.

Rob graduated cum laude in 1985 with a Music Performance degree from Oklahoma City University. He spent several years working as a recording engineer and studio musician at Image Productions in Oklahoma City, and as Production Director/on-air radio personality at KCSC-FM, which at the time was an NPR affiliate.

In 1986, Rob responded to God's unexpected call to full-time vocational ministry, becoming the Director of Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. In 1988 he and Katie relocating to Wilmore, KY to pursue pastoral training (with an emphasis in philosophy and biblical studies) at Asbury Theological Seminary. After graduating with honors from ATS, Rob began his ministry as an ordained member of the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church by serving as Campus Minister for The Wesley Center at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK. During his time in the Oklahoma Conference, Rob also served as an Associate Pastor for the First United Methodist Church in Durant, and later for First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville, OK.

Pastor Rob began his service in the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church in January of the year 2000, serving as Senior Associate at Lake Highlands UMC in Dallas, TX, then as Lead Pastor at Trinity UMC in Wichita Falls, TX, and finally as Lead Pastor at Asbury UMC in Denton, TX before becoming Lead Pastor at JustinUMC.  Rob has served at JustinUMC since July 1, 2014.

Although Rob is primarily a Teaching Pastor with a heart for the word of God, from time to time he uses a wider variety of methods for communicating biblical truth, including music, visuals, story, and cinema.  His sermon series generally alternate between expository preaching and more practical and topical concerns, but are always firmly rooted in scripture.  His goal in preaching is to equip the saints for their personal edification, and for service as ambassadors of Christ in a troubled and hurting "war zone" world.

In addition to his ministry at JustinUMC, Rob records and performs with the art-rock band Supernal Endgame, and also gigs regionally with Foo McBubba (big band jazz), the Jett Quartet (a fusion of jazz and classical sensibilities), and Savannah Jam ("classic rock and blues, unplugged and improv'd"). He is an avid connoisseur of many genres of music, but is especially fond of "jazz noir" and progressive rock (or "prog").

Rob enjoys reading (philosophy, theology, economic theory, and fiction that deals with ultimate issues), and is generally reading some 30+ books simultaneously.    He also enjoys epic cinematic tales (including Lord of the Rings, Star Wars/Trek, The X-Files, 24, Turn: Washington's Spies, The Matrix, BS Galactica [2005], etc.).
